What a steal actually is
Stealing is part of the official loop. You enter another player's unlocked base, take a Brainrot, and get it back to your own base. While you hold one, guides consistently say you cannot use gear. One detailed movement guide also reports a speed drop from 34 to 20 and a jump drop from 7.2 to 4.32. Treat those exact movement numbers as a single published report and trust the slowdown you feel in game.
The owner is alerted. Other players can hit you and send the Brainrot back. A successful delivery adds it to your base.
A first raid
- Buy and collect once so you already know your lock and your return route.
- Scout from outside. Look for an open base, a unit you can identify, and a short path home.
- Enter when the lock is down. Grab one target. Do not browse the whole base while you are slowed.
- Return on the route you already walked. Jumping changes your hitbox, but it does not make you faster.
- Lock your own base as soon as the unit is home.
Nearby bases are the practical first targets. A long carry gives the owner and other players more time to hit you.
Gear changes the route later
Early on, the Speed Coil (reported at 750 cash, raising walk speed from 34 to 51 in one guide) and a slap or bat are the tools people actually name. Grapple Hook is widely tied to Rebirth 3, Invisibility Cloak to Rebirth 4, and Medusa's Head to Rebirth 5. Later combinations such as Quantum Cloner plus All Seeing Sentry are described from Rebirth 7. Those are unlock reports, not a promise that the shop price is unchanged.
Do not copy a private-server block or disconnect trick. Guides that describe forcing another player to error out also describe it as scamming. Stick to entering an open base and extracting.
After you are hit
If the Brainrot snaps back, the steal failed. Re-lock if you left your own base open, then pick a closer target. Chasing the same Secret across the map with no mobility gear is how early cash gets spent on nothing.
